DeepSeek Surpasses $1B Revenue Milestone, Targets $75B IPO Valuation

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has achieved a remarkable milestone, hitting an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion as of September 2026. This is a significant leap from under $500 million just a few months prior. CEO Liang Wenfeng shared this figure during a recent investor meeting as the Hangzhou-based company wraps up its second external funding round and gears up for a listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The revenue boost was primarily driven by an aggressive pricing strategy. DeepSeek increased its API model prices by 2.3x to 4.5x, yet Wenfeng confirmed that enterprise customer demand remained completely unaffected. Despite the price increase, DeepSeek’s models are still among the most competitively priced major AI offerings worldwide. Notably, the company’s gross margins reached 82.9% through July 2026, outperforming comparable figures from rivals Anthropic and OpenAI. Almost all revenue comes from API access, while the consumer chatbot app remains entirely free.

DeepSeek is now aiming for a fundraise of approximately $7.5 billion (50 billion yuan) at a valuation of $75 billion (500 billion yuan). The company expects to close this by the end of October 2026, marking a 44% valuation increase in just four months. The company also plans to integrate Huawei training chips as early as Q4 2026, further safeguarding its infrastructure from U.S. export controls. DeepSeek’s rapid ascent continues to create waves across Silicon Valley and global AI markets.
