Michelin Guide 2026: 470 New Hotels Across 79 Destinations Unveiled
The world’s most coveted stamp of hospitality excellence, the MICHELIN Guide, has expanded its reach. On September 18, 2026, it unveiled its eagerly awaited 2026 Michelin Key hotel selection. This addition incorporates 470 new hotels across 79 destinations, bringing the total global selection to a staggering 2,832 Key-awarded properties out of over 9,400 hotels curated worldwide.
This year’s release introduced 18 new Three-Key hotels, the guide’s highest hotel distinction reserved for “extraordinary” stays. Standout properties include Borgo Santandrea on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Southern Ocean Lodge in Australia, Delaire Graff Estate in South Africa, and Soneva Secret in the Maldives. In total, 155 hotels now hold Three Keys, alongside 657 Two-Key and 2,020 One-Key properties.
The guide’s geographic expansion is perhaps the most exciting development. For the first time, hotels in Armenia, Botswana, Rwanda, Mongolia, Zimbabwe, and five other nations earned Michelin Keys. This reflects the guide’s growing recognition of emerging travel markets. More than 80 existing properties also ascended to higher Key categories following anonymous inspector visits.
Europe and Asia recorded the largest number of new additions, with notable growth in France, Italy, Japan, India, and Thailand. This signals a truly global renaissance in world-class hospitality.
