Nigeria Ignites ‘Ember to Remember 2026’: A 100-Day Tourism and Creative Economy Campaign
Nigeria has officially launched “Ember to Remember 2026,” an ambitious 100-day national tourism and creative economy campaign. Spanning from September through December, the campaign aims to consolidate the country’s diverse cultural events into a single, robust economic catalyst.
This initiative is led by Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy in collaboration with the digital platform MyCityApp. The campaign was formally inaugurated on September 14, 2026, at the Eko Hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos. During the launch, the government revealed a new National 100-Day Tourism Calendar that compiles events from all over the country.
The Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, announced ambitious goals at the launch. She stated that the government is striving to tap into Nigeria’s estimated $100 billion tourism and creative economy potential. The campaign strategically places Nigeria’s diaspora at the heart of its audience strategy. It encourages state authorities and private event organizers to register their activities on the national calendar, aiming to provide a more coordinated tourism offering during the festive season.
Notable private-sector leaders, including MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Toriola, attended the stakeholder conference, highlighting the significant corporate support behind the initiative. The campaign aims to transform short-term festive activities — encompassing culture, music, fashion, food, and heritage — into year-round economic value and job opportunities for Nigeria’s youth.
