Anthropic and Nvidia Secure a $35B AI Deal with Bitcoin Miner Hut 8

In a remarkable AI infrastructure deal of 2026, Anthropic has inked a $35 billion cloud-computing contract with Lambda—an AI cloud provider supported by Nvidia. The deal aims to secure substantial computing capacity for Anthropic’s rapidly growing AI workloads. The central figure in this deal is Hut 8 Corp. (NASDAQ: HUT), a former Bitcoin mining company that is now developing the crucial data center facility in Nueces County, Texas. This facility will generate the computing power required for the deal.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, this arrangement positions four companies at different stages in the AI supply chain: Anthropic as the end customer, Lambda as the cloud provider, Nvidia as the hardware supplier and leaseholder of the facility, and Hut 8 as the developer of the underlying infrastructure. The Texas campus, known as Beacon Point, has approximately 350 megawatts of capacity, sufficient to support Anthropic’s massive compute demands.

The news led to a surge in Hut 8 shares, marking a significant transformation from a crypto miner to an AI infrastructure powerhouse. This deal is indicative of a broader industry trend where Bitcoin miners, with their large power footprints and existing grid connections, are increasingly repurposing their assets to cater to the growing demand for computing power from AI companies. Hut 8 also holds a separate 15-year, $7 billion lease with Fluidstack, covering around 245 megawatts of capacity, highlighting the speed of its transition towards AI.
