European Sleeper Unveils Brussels–Milan Night Train, Bridging Four Nations

Europe’s thriving overnight rail renaissance marked a new achievement on September 9, 2026. European Sleeper officially introduced its brand-new night train linking Brussels and Milan. This marks the company’s third international route and its first to serve Switzerland and Italy. The Belgian-Dutch cooperative, established in 2023 and entirely community-owned, operated the inaugural service in collaboration with the Italian railway company, Arenaways.

The train sets off from Milan Porta Garibaldi on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evenings. It travels through Switzerland along the picturesque Gotthard line, making stops at Como San Giovanni, Lugano, Bellinzona, and Aarau. The journey then continues north through Germany to Cologne, finally arriving at Brussels-Midi the following morning. Return services from Brussels operate on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings.

Starting at a mere €49.99 one-way, tickets for the shared Classic compartment offer a sustainable and budget-friendly alternative to short-haul flights across Western Europe. From December 14, 2026, the route will be extended to include stops at Antwerp, Breda, and Eindhoven. This will create a direct overnight corridor between the Netherlands and Italy, highlighting the increasing demand for low-carbon, cross-border rail travel in Europe.
