Turkish Airlines Breaks Records with Over 350,000 Passengers in a Single Day
Turkish Airlines, a leading global aviation group, set an unprecedented passenger record on August 2, 2026. The group, which includes Turkish Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary, AJet, transported an impressive 352,715 passengers in just one day. This marked the busiest day in the carrier’s 93-year history.
The mainline operations of Turkish Airlines accounted for 248,318 passengers, while AJet contributed an additional 104,397. Together, they operated 1,970 passenger flights that Sunday. Including the freighters of Turkish Cargo, the group achieved a total of 2,034 flights in a single day – a record in itself.
This record-breaking achievement didn’t occur in isolation. The previous Saturday, the mainline carrier had already set its own single-day record with 248,922 passengers. This means the group broke its own record twice in a span of 48 hours.
For the period from January to July 2026, Turkish Airlines has transported 54 million passengers, marking a 5.4% increase year-on-year. International traffic rose by 6.2% to 35.4 million, and domestic traffic increased by 3.8% to 18.6 million. The carrier’s fleet has expanded to 563 aircraft, serving 358 destinations across 133 countries – more than any other airline worldwide. The airline anticipates setting further records throughout August due to the high demand for summer travel.
