SAS Marks Return to India After 17 Years with New Copenhagen–Mumbai Route
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has officially confirmed that all preparations are in place for its highly anticipated return to India. The airline is launching a year-round nonstop service between Copenhagen (CPH) and Mumbai (BOM) on October 1, 2026. This route marks SAS’ first venture into the Indian market in 17 years and is set to be operated five times per week using a 266-seat Airbus A330. This service will reconnect Northern Europe directly with India’s financial and commercial capital.
The launch carries particular significance for SAS, as it coincides with its 80th anniversary in 2026. Flight SK969 will depart Copenhagen at 16:10 and arrive in Mumbai at 04:30 the following morning. The return service, SK970, departs Mumbai at 06:30 and arrives in Copenhagen at 12:15. The route had an earlier planned start date of June 2, 2026, but was delayed due to pending final clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). However, all approvals have now been secured.
The new service will also bolster Copenhagen Airport’s role as a connecting hub, providing passengers onward access to destinations including New York, Boston, and Toronto. Tickets are currently available for purchase across all SAS booking channels.
