SAS Prepares for Copenhagen–Mumbai Nonstop Route Relaunch on October 1
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is all set to resume its eagerly awaited nonstop service between Copenhagen and Mumbai on October 1, 2026. This marks the airline’s comeback to the Indian market after a 17-year hiatus. The route, operating five times a week, will utilize a wide-body Airbus A330 with 266 seats, providing a direct link between Copenhagen Airport (CPH) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).
The relaunch follows a dramatic false start on June 2, when the maiden flight SK969 had to return to Denmark mid-air due to a delay in obtaining the final regulatory clearance from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). SAS has since addressed all operational and regulatory issues and confirmed that tickets are now available for purchase through its booking channels.
Outbound flight SK969 is scheduled to depart from Copenhagen at 16:10 and arrive in Mumbai at 04:30 the following day. The route, which will operate all year round, is also designed to cater to North American travelers connecting through Copenhagen from cities such as New York, Boston, and Toronto. This provides a Scandinavian alternative to Gulf or Frankfurt connections to India.
