Admiral Hotel Copenhagen Reveals $20M Revamp and New Pool

One of Copenhagen’s most historic waterfront hotels, the Admiral Hotel Copenhagen, has recently completed a breathtaking transformation. This restored 1787 grain warehouse, which overlooks the Copenhagen Harbour, Amalienborg Palace, and the Royal Danish Opera House, has unveiled the final phase of its $20 million renovation. This meticulous transformation was carried out between January 2024 and July 2026.

The standout addition to the hotel is a new year-round heated outdoor pool and relaxation area. This rare amenity in Copenhagen’s hotel market offers guests a serene waterfront escape. The renovation was spearheaded by Copenhagen design studio Co.Design and Danish architectural firm KBS Byg. The design blends contemporary Scandinavian aesthetics with the building’s rich maritime heritage.

Beyond the pool, the transformation introduced aye aye, a boathouse-inspired signature restaurant. This unique dining experience features Mediterranean-influenced open-fire cooking with Nordic ingredients. Additionally, the hotel now houses SIR, a sophisticated cocktail bar set within the hotel’s historic grain warehouse. The lobby, event spaces, fitness centre, and harbour-front terrace have all been refreshed. The hotel’s 366 guestrooms and suites were renovated in earlier phases, ensuring a seamless luxury experience throughout.

Managing Director Jesper Stubgaard stated that the investment was guided by a commitment to preserving the hotel’s heritage while delivering a more refined, immersive experience for today’s traveller.
