Colorado Startup Cosmic Aerospace Launches Innovative 4-Seat Electric Aircraft: Cosmic One

A Colorado-based startup, Cosmic Aerospace, is making waves in the general aviation sector with the introduction of the Cosmic One. This sophisticated four-seat all-electic aircraft is specifically designed to comply with the FAA’s newly implemented MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) rules. The announcement came just weeks after MOSAIC was enacted on July 24, 2026, marking the most significant update to small aircraft certification in over two decades.

The Cosmic One is equipped with a six-motor embedded wing propulsion system, aiming for a remarkable 250-knot maximum speed, a 250-nautical-mile range, and a swift 30-minute recharge time. With a 4,400-pound maximum takeoff weight and a 49-foot wingspan, it is targeted at private pilots, flight schools, and flying clubs. Centennial Flyers, one of the largest flying clubs in the United States with a fleet of 42 aircraft, has already committed as the first U.S. launch customer. They have signed a letter of intent for four aircraft with an option for two additional ones.

Cosmic Aerospace is now accepting reservations for its Founder Series. A fully refundable deposit of $2,500 guarantees a production slot. The company plans for the prototype’s first flight in 2028 and initial deliveries in 2029. CEO Christopher Chahine expressed that MOSAIC has fundamentally changed the economics of electric aircraft certification, opening new possibilities for innovative startups.
