P&G Acquires Wellness Powerhouse Thorne in a $3.8 Billion Deal
In a significant health and wellness deal of the year, Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) has confirmed its plans to acquire Thorne, a science-backed supplement giant, for an impressive $3.8 billion. Announced on August 4, 2026, this acquisition marks a strategic move by P&G to expand its presence in the rapidly growing personal health care sector.
Established in 1984, Thorne has earned a commendable reputation as the most recommended clinical brand among healthcare practitioners. It boasts a dedicated base of over seven million consumers, tens of thousands of health professionals, and more than 100 professional sports teams — including multiple U.S. National Teams. Thorne’s product range includes premium nutritional supplements such as magnesium, whey protein, and omega-3, all produced at a vertically integrated facility in South Carolina.
Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Health Care, stated that the acquisition aligns perfectly with the increasing consumer demand. “Consumer interest in self-care, prevention, wellness, and personalized health continues to grow, and Thorne strengthens our position in premium wellness.” Notably, Thorne’s revenue exceeded $500 million in 2025, with consumers under 40 representing its fastest-growing demographic. The transaction is expected to finalize in Q4 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. P&G will acquire Thorne from the private equity firm L Catterton’s Flagship Fund.
