Introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: Samsung’s Slimmest Foldable Smartphone Yet
At the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 event in London, Samsung made a striking announcement. The tech giant unveiled three next-generation foldable smartphones: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold8, and the Galaxy Z Flip8.
The star of the show, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, is a first in Samsung’s foldable lineup. It’s the inaugural “Ultra” model and the slimmest Galaxy Z Fold yet. When unfolded, it measures a mere 4.1 millimeters thick and weighs in at just 215 grams.
The Fold8 Ultra boasts a generous 8-inch main display and is powered by cutting-edge agentic AI. This technology can perform tasks autonomously in the background, such as booking a hotel while the user continues to browse other apps. The all-new Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a wider, shorter form factor optimized for content consumption and multitasking. The Galaxy Z Flip8, on the other hand, features an upgraded FlexWindow with AI-driven “Now Brief” updates.
Starting at $2,099.99, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is $100 more expensive than its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold8 begins at $1,900. Both devices will be available for purchase in early August 2026, with up to seven years of software updates promised. Samsung’s latest foldables also introduce a new Flex Titanium hinge, featuring a titanium alloy film for enhanced screen strength and a thinner display structure. These launches come as anticipation builds for Apple’s first foldable iPhone, with Samsung striving to maintain its leading position in the category it pioneered.
