Samsung’s Bold Move: Introducing the Thinnest Foldable Yet, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

Samsung made a bold move in London this week, unveiling its most ambitious foldable smartphone lineup to date at Galaxy Unpacked July 2026. The centerpiece of the event was the all-new Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra — the first-ever Ultra model in Samsung’s foldable portfolio — alongside the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Flip8.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: A Record-Breaker

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a record-breaker: measuring just 4.1mm thin when unfolded and weighing only 215 grams, it is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold ever made. It sports a generous 8-inch main display, runs on the blazing-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, and houses a 5,000mAh battery.

  • Offers up to 1TB of storage
  • 16GB of RAM
  • Ships with Android 17 and One UI 9

The Ultra also features a triple-camera system for advanced photography and AI-powered multitasking through Samsung’s new “Now Nudge” agentic AI feature.

The Foldable Revolution: Samsung vs. Apple

The launch comes as Samsung faces mounting competitive pressure, with Apple expected to enter the foldable market with its own iPhone Fold in September 2026. Prices for the Z Fold8 series have increased compared to last year, driven by rising memory chip costs. Still, Samsung is betting that the Ultra branding, razor-thin design, and AI-first features will keep it ahead of the curve in the foldable revolution.
