Unveiling the Future of Flight Training: Pipistrel’s Voyager
The world of pilot training has just received a significant upgrade. Pipistrel, an esteemed Slovenian aircraft manufacturer and affiliate of Textron Aviation Inc., unveiled its new Voyager training aircraft at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 — the world’s largest aviation gathering — held at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Specifically engineered for high-frequency instructor-student training, the two-seat Voyager aligns with the FAA’s new MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) regulations, which came into full effect on July 24, 2026. The aircraft boasts IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) capability, intentional spin certification, and a Rotax 912 ULS engine. It also features the innovative Garmin AXIS flight display avionics system, integrating GPS, NAV/COMM, a three-axis autopilot, and a haptic stall warning system into a single touchscreen display.
Key specifications of the Voyager include:
- A maximum takeoff weight of 1,389 lb
- A useful load of 552 lb
- A maximum range of 740 nautical miles with IFR reserves
The aircraft is priced at approximately €240,000 at entry level and is expected to enter service in 2027. Epic Flight Academy, a Florida-based flight school with 12 locations across the United States, has already committed as the launch customer, with plans to purchase up to 50 Voyagers.
According to Textron Aviation executives, the Voyager is designed to complement — not replace — the iconic Cessna Skyhawk, whose order book currently extends into 2028.
