Koh Samui Crowned as the World’s Best Island in Travel + Leisure’s 2026 Awards

Travel + Leisure has announced its esteemed 2026 World’s Best Awards. The results, gathered from over 207,000 reader surveys, highlight a new generation of exceptional global destinations, hotels, and airlines that are redefining modern travel.

Thailand’s Koh Samui has won the coveted title of Best Island in the World for the first time, indicating a growing global interest in Southeast Asian beach getaways. In addition, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico was declared the Best City in the World, with Santa Fe, New Mexico earning the top spot for U.S. cities.

In the hotel category, Patina Osaka, Japan was recognized as the Best Hotel in the World. Capella Hotels & Resorts was acknowledged as the Best Hotel Brand in the World. On the airline front, EVA Air ascended to the top spot among international carriers.
