Introducing AXIS™: Garmin’s Revolutionary All-in-One Cockpit Display
Garmin has just unveiled its most ambitious general aviation product in years — the AXIS™ family of flight displays. This groundbreaking announcement came on July 8, 2026, from the company’s headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.
In an industry first, the AXIS system integrates a primary flight display (PFD), multifunction display (MFD), IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and a four-place audio panel into a single touchscreen unit. This innovative design effectively eliminates the traditional radio stack that has defined GA cockpits for decades.
The AXIS Lineup
The AXIS lineup is available in three sizes:
- An 11.6-inch landscape display (already FAA/EASA TSO-certified and available this month)
- An 8-inch portrait display
- An 8-inch landscape display
The latter two are expected to be available in early 2027. The system covers hundreds of certified piston-powered single and twin-engine aircraft via an AML STC, as well as experimental and Light Sport Aircraft under the FAA’s MOSAIC framework.
Pricing and Safety Features
Pricing for the AXIS system ranges from $8,000 for entry-level experimental VFR setups to $51,800 for a dual 11.6-inch certified IFR configuration.
The system also boasts a range of safety features, including:
- Garmin’s Smart Glide™ emergency engine-loss assist
- Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA)
- SurfaceWatch™
- A dedicated emergency button on the display bezel
Carl Wolf, Garmin’s VP of Aviation Sales, hailed the AXIS as “the new standard for what pilots can expect from an integrated flight display system.”
