Introducing the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026: A Premium Flip Phone at $1,499

Motorola has officially unveiled its 2026 Razr flip phone lineup, with the flagship Razr Ultra 2026 commanding a premium $1,499 price point—a $200 increase over its predecessor. Pre-orders begin May 14, with general availability starting May 21, 2026.

The Razr Ultra 2026 boasts a 7-inch internal foldable display with LTPO AMOLED technology, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It’s backed by 16GB of RAM and offers up to 512GB of storage. The device introduces several notable upgrades, including a larger 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery—a significant improvement over traditional lithium-ion technology that allows for increased capacity without adding weight. The phone maintains 68W wired and 30W wireless charging speeds.

Camera improvements include a new LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) sensor in the main 50MP camera, which should significantly enhance dynamic range and low-light performance. The device also features dual 50MP rear cameras and advanced AI-powered photography features.

The price increase reflects broader industry challenges, including a global component shortage affecting memory chips and other critical parts. Despite using the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip as the 2025 model rather than upgrading to the newer Gen 5 variant, Motorola positioned the device as a refinement of an already-strong formula. The Razr lineup also includes the base Razr 2026 at $799 and Razr Plus 2026 at $1,099, giving Motorola a three-tier strategy to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7.
