Major AI Update for Samsung Smart Refrigerators Now Rolling Out
Samsung Electronics has initiated a substantial over-the-network update for its Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub models. This update, which enhances the artificial intelligence capabilities of select models, began rolling out in the United States from May 11, 2026.
The update brings with it an expansion of the AI Vision technology, featuring improved food recognition capabilities, a smarter Bixby voice control, and personalized daily widgets. As per Samsung, the AI Food Manager now significantly broadens the range of items the Family Hub can recognize and track. This is achieved by combining cloud intelligence to identify fresh produce and packaged goods beyond its original 40 pre-studied items with greater accuracy. This includes popular branded products and regionally specific ingredients.
“A home appliance’s value should not be fixed at the moment of purchase — it should grow as the technology around it evolves,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.
The update will be gradually rolled out to the 9-inch AI Home and additional global markets throughout 2026.
