Honor Launches Revolutionary Robot Phone with AI-Powered Motorized Camera at MWC 2026
Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Honor, stole the show at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. They unveiled their groundbreaking Robot Phone, equipped with a motorized 200-megapixel camera. This camera is mounted on a 4-degree-of-freedom gimbal, which pops out from the device’s rear panel.
The innovative camera module boasts the ability to autonomously track subjects and respond to voice commands with physical gestures like nodding. It can even bob along to music. The system includes three-axis mechanical stabilization paired with AI-powered tracking. This advanced technology can anticipate subject movement and maintain focus even when temporarily obscured. When not in use, the camera neatly retracts into the phone’s body.
Honor’s CEO, James Li, described the Robot Phone as a “new species of smartphone“. He stated that it represents the company’s vision of embodied AI. This combines both digital intelligence and physical movement. The device is a key part of Honor’s broader ALPHA PLAN strategy. This strategy aims to pioneer augmented human intelligence in consumer devices.
Alongside the Robot Phone, Honor also unveiled several other innovative products:
- The Magic V6 foldable smartphone, equipped with a 6,660 mAh silicon-carbon battery.
- The world’s thinnest Android tablet, the 4.8mm MagicPad 4.
- The company’s first humanoid robot, designed for shopping assistance and workplace support.
The Robot Phone is expected to launch in China in the second half of 2026. However, pricing details are yet to be announced.
