Thousands of travellers across the United Kingdom and Ireland faced severe disruption on Sunday, October 25, 2026, as Storm Boelo — arriving hard on the heels of Storm Austen — unleashed powerful winds of up to 80 mph, triggering widespread flight cancellations, runway go-arounds, and ground transportation chaos.

London Gatwick Airport was among the worst hit, with multiple arrivals and departures cancelled or heavily delayed. Affected services included easyJet flights to Belfast, Glasgow, and Tenerife South, as well as British Airways routes from Glasgow and St Lucia. Passengers reported being stranded without luggage and facing hours-long waits. Loganair confirmed cancellations across all Scottish airports, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man, offering passengers free flight changes.

The storm also struck Channel Island airports, western France, the Netherlands, and northern England, with significant cancellations and diversions reported across the region from October 23–25. National Rail announced disruptions to multiple lines, and highway authorities urged drivers to avoid non-essential journeys. Hundreds of homes were left without power as the storm swept through.

Travellers with upcoming flights in the UK and Ireland are strongly advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airport, as disruptions are expected to continue into the evening.
