Galderma Acquires ZO Skin Health in a Monumental $1.5B Deal
In a monumental move in the medical skincare industry this year, Swiss dermatology titan Galderma Group AG (SIX: GALD) has announced its decision to acquire renowned physician-dispensed skincare brand, ZO Skin Health. The brand, founded by dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi, is being acquired in an all-cash deal valued at a staggering $1.5 billion.
The acquisition entails the purchase of 100% of ZO Skin Health from shareholders, which include private equity firm Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and the founding Obagi family. This strategic move is set to considerably broaden Galderma’s influence in the rapidly growing medical-grade skincare market.
Based in Irvine, California, ZO Skin Health has established an impressive portfolio of over 40 products. These are distributed across more than 16,500 physician offices, medical spas, and online accounts in over 40 countries. The company recorded approximately $330 million in net sales in the 12 months leading up to June 2026.
This deal positions ZO Skin Health alongside Galderma’s existing powerhouse brands, such as Cetaphil and Alastin. This expansion of skincare options will benefit dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and aesthetic professionals worldwide. Galderma, which reported revenues of $5.2 billion last year, anticipates the transaction to close in Q4 2026 or early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
