Meta Platforms’ Muse AI: Revolutionizing Online Shopping with Over 5 Million Downloads

Meta Platforms is making waves with its innovative AI agent Muse. Since its launch on September 8, 2026, Muse has achieved a remarkable milestone of over 5 million downloads, significantly transforming the landscape of online shopping.

Muse, a personal AI agent, is designed to browse retail websites, highlight products, navigate checkout processes, and finalize purchases on behalf of the user. However, the final approval for any transaction is always in the hands of the shopper. Meta has collaborated with a robust lineup of retail partners, including Walmart, Gap, Sephora, Expedia, Wayfair, and Best Buy. Muse utilizes years of user social activity data to comprehend personal preferences and make informed purchasing decisions.

On October 1, 2026, Meta extended the reach of Muse to small businesses by integrating with platforms like Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Zoom, Canva, and Asana. Businesses maintain control as human approval is mandatory before Muse finalizes purchases or publishes content. Muse is available in free, $20/month, and $100/month tiers, depending on the usage volume.

Since the announcement of Muse, Meta’s shares have seen an increase of more than 25%, indicating robust investor confidence. Despite this, competition is heating up, with rivals like Amazon voicing data privacy concerns, alleging that Muse stores customer credentials.

“Whoever owns the agent owns the relationship with the shopper, and every retailer knows it,” noted Luca Cian, a professor at UVA Darden School of Business.
