McFarlane Aviation Expands Backcountry Reach with Acquisition of Airglas

McFarlane Aviation, a Victor Sierra Company, has recently acquired Airglas, Inc., a renowned manufacturer based in Anchorage, Alaska. Airglas specializes in the production of fiberglass skis, heavy-duty nose forks, and cargo and fuel pods for backcountry and military aircraft. This strategic acquisition is set to significantly broaden the accessibility of specialized bush-flying equipment to pilots across the globe.

The deal, which was announced on September 30 and widely reported on October 3, 2026, integrates Airglas’s battle-proven product line into McFarlane’s extensive aftermarket distribution network. Crucially, Airglas will maintain its full product production in Anchorage with its existing team. This ensures that loyal customers will experience no changes in the personnel or processes behind the equipment they depend on.

This acquisition is the third major purchase by McFarlane in Alaska in 2026. The company previously acquired Alaskan Bushwheels and Airframes Alaska, which were subsequently rebranded as McFarlane Alaska. McFarlane already provides support to bush airframes with products such as tailwheel suspension systems and landing gear for Cessna, Piper, Maule, and Husky aircraft.

Airglas President, Shane Langland, expressed his thoughts on the acquisition, stating, “We have spent decades building equipment for pilots who land where there is no runway.” Scott Still, President and CEO of Victor Sierra, added that the deal “strengthens our commitment to the Alaska market, expands our general aviation and military business, and advances our mission to keep customers flying.” Airglas products are now available through McFarlane Alaska, with broader availability through McFarlane Aviation planned in the near future.
