MT-Propeller’s 4-Blade AVIA Propeller Gains EASA Approval for Air Tractors
MT-Propeller has achieved a significant milestone by securing the EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) No. 10090953. This certification approves the installation of its state-of-the-art, 4-bladed AVIA Propeller AV-804 on a broad spectrum of Air Tractor agricultural aircraft. The approved models include the widely used AT-402, AT-502, AT-502A, AT-502B, and AT-503A. The certification encompasses aircraft powered by several variants of Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engines, ranging from the PT6A-15AG to the high-powered PT6A-140AG. FAA STC approval is currently underway.
As per MT-Propeller, the newly introduced 4-bladed AVIA propeller delivers performance that is on par with, or even surpasses, the legacy STC 4-blade propeller available in the market. It offers substantial measurable benefits. Operators can anticipate a static thrust increase of up to 430 lbs for the PT6A-34AG engine and up to 200 lbs for the PT6A-140AG engine, compared to the existing Legacy 4-blade STC propeller. Additionally, the upgrade results in a significant RPM reduction — from 2,200 RPM to 2,080 RPM for relevant engines. This reduction leads to decreased cabin noise and enhanced operational efficiency for agricultural aviators.
This certification is a major achievement for ag-aviation operators across Europe, where Air Tractor aircraft are extensively employed for crop application, firefighting, and pest control operations. MT-Propeller, with its headquarters in Germany and a reputation as a leading global natural composite propeller manufacturer, continues to aggressively expand its global STC program in 2026.
