Henkel Appoints Christoph Kaul as New CEO of Olaplex Following $1.4B Acquisition

The premium haircare industry is embarking on a new era. Henkel, the German consumer goods behemoth, has officially named Christoph Kaul as the new Chief Executive Officer of Olaplex. This follows the successful completion of its significant $1.4 billion acquisition of the science-driven haircare brand earlier this year.

Kaul, a seasoned Henkel veteran with over 13 years at the company, most recently held the position of Regional Head of Strategy and Transformation for Henkel’s professional salon business in the United States. He also previously served as the General Manager of Kenra Professional and gained early career experience in sales and marketing at the French beauty powerhouse, L’Oréal.

Kaul takes over from Amanda Baldwin, who spearheaded Olaplex’s remarkable turnaround since 2023. Baldwin oversaw the reformulation of the iconic Nº.3 Hair Perfector, expanded the product portfolio, and successfully navigated the brand through its high-profile acquisition. Kaul’s appointment underscores Henkel’s commitment to preserving Olaplex’s professional salon focus while driving global innovation and scale.

“I am excited and honoured to share that I have been appointed to lead the incredible team at Olaplex,” Kaul announced on LinkedIn. He expressed his eagerness to “continue our focus on innovation and delivering the performance, quality, and results our customers and consumers trust.” Olaplex has also recently ventured into the fragrance category with a hair-scented mist, hinting at an ambitious product pipeline on the horizon.
