The Florida Keys & Key West are making a strong push this autumn, leveraging a packed calendar of festivals, culinary events, and new tourism incentives to extend their peak season well beyond summer. The island chain — stretching from Key Largo to Key West — is positioning fall 2026 as a premier travel window, offering something for every kind of visitor.
A new initiative from Visit Florida Keys & Key West called “Keys Season” is offering deals and savings from participating lodging partners, restaurants, and watersports operators through October 31. Officials say the campaign is designed to highlight less crowding and more authentic local experiences that this shoulder season uniquely provides. According to Tourism Economics, the 2026 forecast for the Florida Keys projects more than $1.08 billion in room revenue, an impressive 8.1% increase over previous projections.
Fall highlights include Taste the Keys, a month-long Upper Keys dining celebration; REEF Fest in Key Largo for divers and snorkelers; and the legendary Fantasy Fest — Key West’s beloved 10-day costume extravaganza. The season wraps up with high-profile fishing tournaments in Marathon and Key West, and the iconic New Year’s Eve Red Shoe Drop. Airport arrivals at Key West International Airport are also up 8.8% year-over-year as of May 2026, reflecting strong and growing connectivity to the destination.
Tourism officials say their goal is to transform the Keys into a true year-round destination, moving beyond its traditional winter-peak model to a vibrant multi-seasonal cultural hub.
