Eli Lilly’s Foundayo™ Proves Effective in Weight Loss Across All Menopausal Stages
A groundbreaking analysis unveiled at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) 2026 Annual Meeting in Milan, Italy, has shown that orforglipron — Eli Lilly’s FDA-approved oral GLP-1 receptor agonist, marketed as Foundayo™ — consistently promotes significant weight loss in women at all stages of menopause: premenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal.
The research, spearheaded by Eli Lilly and Company, utilized data from two pivotal clinical trials — ATTAIN-1 (participants with overweight or obesity without diabetes) and ATTAIN-2 (participants with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetes). The findings revealed that a staggering 83% of participants treated with orforglipron achieved a minimum of 5% body weight reduction, a stark contrast to the mere 30% in the placebo group. Furthermore, significant reductions in waist circumference of up to 12.5 cm were noted across all menopausal subgroups.
This discovery is especially significant considering the exacerbation of obesity often caused by estrogen deficiency during menopause. The convenience of this once-daily pill, which can be taken without any food or water restrictions, signifies a major advancement in accessible obesity treatment for women of all ages. Regulatory submissions for its application in type 2 diabetes are currently in progress.
