Microsoft’s Copilot Revamp Boosts MSFT Stock by 4%
Microsoft made a significant impact on Wall Street this week, unveiling a comprehensive revamp of its Copilot AI platform. This move resulted in a more than 4% surge in shares, marking the best single-day performance among the so-called Magnificent Seven tech stocks.
On September 25, 2026, the tech behemoth unveiled a redesigned Copilot that integrates its chatbot, coding tools, and autonomous task agents into a single, enterprise-focused application. The new platform introduces distinct tabs, including Chat, Code, and Autopilot. It also transitions to a hybrid pricing model that maintains a flat per-user fee for basic chat, while implementing usage-based rates for more advanced AI features.
Microsoft shares closed at $516.17, with roughly 37.9 million shares traded. This volume is about 15% above the three-month average, highlighting the depth of investor enthusiasm. Adding to the momentum, Oppenheimer analyst Brian Schwartz raised his price target on MSFT from $515 to $570. He maintained an Outperform rating and noted that enterprise customers are increasingly standardizing on Microsoft as their primary AI platform.
With Microsoft on track to spend over $115 billion in capital expenditures in 2026, primarily on data centers and AI infrastructure, Wall Street is keenly observing for signs that the investment is yielding returns. According to Stifel analysts, Copilot already boasts over 30 million paid users. This impressive user base prompted the analysts to upgrade the stock to Buy earlier in the week.
