Microsoft Unveils Copilot: A Powerful Enterprise AI App to Rival Anthropic & OpenAI

On Friday, September 25, 2026, Microsoft made a significant stride in the enterprise AI competition. The tech giant introduced an enhanced, all-in-one Copilot app, designed exclusively for corporate customers. This move directly challenges its competitors, Anthropic and OpenAI.

The revamped Copilot amalgamates three potent sections into a single platform. These include Home, an AI chat hub powered by Microsoft’s Cowork agent; Code, a tool that enables users to create their own apps using plain language; and Autopilot, a feature that allows users to set up always-on AI agents to work for them. In a significant development, Microsoft is also integrating full versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint directly into the app.

Microsoft is also modifying its pricing model. Instead of a flat $30 per user per month subscription, the company will now charge based on usage. This model aligns with the billing methods of other AI products. CEO Satya Nadella presented the platform as a safeguard against reliance on any single AI lab, boasting Microsoft’s catalog of over 11,000 models. Despite having more than 450 million commercial Office 365 seats worldwide, less than 7% currently possess an AI Copilot license. Microsoft is evidently hoping this launch will bridge this gap.
