NBAA Appoints Dan Hubbard as Interim COO Amidst CEO Ed Bolen’s Cancer Battle
The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has announced a pivotal leadership transition. Its Board of Directors has appointed Dan Hubbard as the interim Chief Operating Officer, effective September 18, 2026. This change comes as longtime President and CEO Ed Bolen takes a leave of absence to undergo cancer treatment.
Hubbard, a seasoned NBAA veteran with 22 years of service, has held the position of Senior Vice President for Communications since 2008. In his new role, he will assume day-to-day responsibility for the association’s operations. His expanded duties will include overseeing all preparations and execution of the upcoming NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE). This significant event is scheduled for October 20–22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Henderson Executive Airport.
Alongside this transition, Heidi Williams has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations. She fills the role left vacant by the retirement of Douglas Carr. Williams has previously led NBAA’s coordination with the FAA and has been actively involved in airspace modernization and emerging technologies.
“NBAA is well-positioned to continue operating seamlessly and serving members strategically and effectively,” said Hubbard upon accepting the interim role. Board Chair John Witzig expressed confidence in the leadership team and wished Bolen a full recovery.
