Ultra Violette Introduces Groundbreaking US Sunscreen with FDA’s Latest Approved Filter

Australian cult suncare brand Ultra Violette has made US beauty history with the launch of its Unblock Screen™ SPF 50 Breakout-Friendly SKINSCREEN™ — the first sunscreen sold in the United States to contain Bemotrizinol (BEMT), a powerful new broad-spectrum UV filter that received FDA approval in June 2026. This marks the first new sunscreen filter cleared by the FDA in over 25 years, representing a major leap forward for American sun protection.

The product launched on August 31, 2026, available via ultraviolettespf.com and Sephora.com, with in-store availability at Sephora locations nationwide expected from October 2, 2026. Priced at $40 for 50ml, the formula combines Bemotrizinol (3%), octocrylene (6%), and zinc oxide (10%), designed specifically for acne-prone, oily, and reactive skin types. It delivers a soft-matte, no-white-cast finish while incorporating Bix’Activ for oil control and Pentavitin for long-lasting hydration.

Co-founder Bec Jefferd noted that Ultra Violette has been formulating with BEMT in its global range for nearly a decade, giving the brand a crucial head start. Because Bemotrizinol is a larger molecule, it does not absorb into the bloodstream the way some older chemical filters do, offering a cleaner and lighter-wearing experience.

A second BEMT-powered product, Fave Screen™ SPF 50, is already planned for a January 2027 US launch, solidifying Ultra Violette’s position at the forefront of next-generation American sun care.
