Swedish Blackwing Debuts U.S. MOSAIC Aircraft Sales; Promises 18-Month Delivery

European aviation is boldly venturing into the American market. Blackwing Sweden AB, the renowned Swedish manufacturer famed for its sleek, high-performance carbon-fiber light aircraft, has officially commenced U.S. sales and started accepting orders under the FAA’s new MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) rule framework. American customers can look forward to an estimated 18-month delivery window.

The move is timed with the introduction of MOSAIC, which fundamentally transforms the landscape of sport and recreational aviation in the United States. This new framework, effective from July 24, 2026, has opened up fresh airworthiness certification opportunities. Blackwing is strategically positioning its aircraft within this burgeoning category, offering American pilots access to its proven European designs. These designs are crafted from pre-preg carbon fiber at its Landskrona, Sweden facility.

According to the company, nearly 50 Blackwing aircraft are currently soaring across European skies. U.S.-spec MOSAIC versions will be available, equipped with Garmin’s new AXIS flight display — a significant attraction for avionics-savvy buyers. The aircraft features a two-seat, side-by-side cockpit under a unique bubble canopy, with optional retractable tricycle landing gear.

Industry experts view the entry of top-tier European manufacturers into the MOSAIC market as a substantial vote of confidence in the new regulatory framework. This is a major triumph for American pilots seeking more options in the light sport segment.
