Unveiling the First All-Inclusive JW Marriott Resort in Costa Rica

A landmark moment in luxury travel is set to occur this month with the grand opening of the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa, All-Inclusive on September 10, 2026. This marks the debut of the first all-inclusive resort under the esteemed JW Marriott brand worldwide.

Located on the beachfront at Playa El Jobo in the Guanacaste region of northwest Costa Rica, the resort is part of Costa Elena, a 3,000-acre luxury beach community surrounded by untouched tropical dry forest. The property boasts 415 suites, including swim-out options and premium Griffin Club suites.

Guests can enjoy a 44,000-square-foot pool complex — the largest in the region, 8 dining outlets, 8 bars, and a 10,000-square-foot spa and wellness center.

The resort is the result of a $60 million transformation of the former Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica property. The design, inspired by Sibü, the creator deity of Costa Rica’s indigenous Bribri and Cabecar cultures, seamlessly blends contemporary luxury with local heritage. Junior Suites start at 527 square feet, each featuring a private furnished terrace and hot tub.

Early reports suggest that the resort’s opening month is already generating strong demand, with bookings filling rapidly. The opening is anticipated to create approximately 700 jobs and stimulate tourism investment in northern Guanacaste. Reservations can be made through Marriott Bonvoy.
