Nvidia Announces Over 15% Price Increase for AI Server Customers
Nvidia, a global leader in AI chip manufacturing, has informed some of its largest customers of an impending price increase. Servers equipped with Nvidia’s state-of-the-art AI chips are set to see a price surge of over 15% in many instances. This significant change could have far-reaching effects throughout the tech industry.
A report by Bloomberg, published on August 22, 2026, states that the price increases will apply to systems shipped in early 2027. The price hike will affect Nvidia’s flagship server platforms, the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell. The exact increase will vary depending on the chip generation and memory configuration chosen by the customer.
The primary cause of this increase is a sharp rise in memory chip costs. Server DRAM prices reportedly doubled in the first quarter of 2026, due to AI data center demand exceeding supply. Memory chip manufacturers have been focusing on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production for AI chips, leading to shortages in the wider market. DDR4 prices alone have seen a jump of up to 50% in Q3 2026.
Companies that build AI servers under contract for tech giants such as Microsoft, Alphabet’s Google, and Oracle have already started notifying their customers about the upcoming price increases. With Nvidia reporting a fiscal Q1 2027 revenue of $81.6 billion — an 85% increase year over year — and its data center segment generating $75.2 billion, this price hike further solidifies Nvidia’s unmatched pricing power in the AI era.
Nvidia is set to report its next earnings on August 26, 2026. The company has yet to make a public statement regarding the reported price increases.
