Cosmic One: The Revolutionary All-Electric Four-Seater Transforming General Aviation

A Colorado-based startup, Cosmic Aerospace, is making waves in the general aviation industry with the introduction of their all-electric, four-seater aircraft, the Cosmic One. This groundbreaking aircraft is designed specifically for certification under the FAA’s new MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) rules, marking the most significant revamp of small aircraft certification in over two decades.

The Cosmic One boasts a unique six-motor embedded wing architecture, aiming for a top speed of 250 knots, a range of 250 nautical miles, and a swift 30-minute recharge time. The aircraft is primarily targeted at private owners, flight schools, and flying clubs. It has already secured its first U.S. launch customer, Centennial Flyers, one of the country’s largest flight clubs, which has signed a letter of intent for four aircraft with an option for two more.

The MOSAIC rules, which came into effect on July 24, 2026, pave the way for factory-built electric aircraft to be certified under performance-based standards for the first time. This significant change dramatically reduces both cost and time to market compared to traditional Part 23 certification. Cosmic Aerospace CEO, Christopher Chahine, highlighted that “MOSAIC changes the certification economics” that previously hindered electric aviation.

The company is aiming for a prototype first flight in 2028 and plans to commence deliveries in 2029. Reservations are currently open, with a fully refundable $2,500 deposit securing a Founder Series production position.
