P&G Acquires Wellness Brand Thorne in a Groundbreaking $3.8 Billion Deal
Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) has made a significant move with a $3.8 billion all-cash acquisition of the science-backed supplement manufacturer, Thorne. This mega-deal, announced on August 4, 2026, is one of the most substantial transactions in the wellness industry of 2026. The deal is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Established in 1984 in Summerville, South Carolina, Thorne has earned its reputation by providing clinically validated, practitioner-trusted supplements. Their product range includes prenatal vitamins, magnesium, omega-3s, creatine, and their latest addition, the Clear Focus caffeine-free cognitive supplement. Thorne enjoys the trust of over 7 million consumers, more than 100 professional sports teams, and tens of thousands of healthcare professionals. The company was reportedly on course to achieve approximately $650 million in sales in 2026.
“Consumer interest in self-care, prevention, wellness, and personalized health continues to grow,” stated Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Health Care. He further added that Thorne’s brand aligns well with P&G’s existing portfolio, which includes renowned brands like Metamucil, Align Probiotic, New Chapter vitamins, Oral-B, and Vicks.
This landmark deal indicates a significant shift in strategy as mainstream consumer goods giants are aggressively entering the thriving premium vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) market through acquisitions rather than internal development.
