P&G Seals $3.8 Billion Mega-Deal Acquisition of Wellness Brand Thorne

In a significant development in the wellness industry in 2026, consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) has confirmed the acquisition of the science-backed supplement brand Thorne for a whopping $3.8 billion in cash. The announcement was made on August 4, 2026, by P&G CEO Shailesh Jejurikar on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street.

Established in 1984, Thorne has earned its name for clinical-grade nutritional supplements, including:

  • Magnesium
  • Omega-3
  • Whey protein

These products are trusted by over seven million consumers and are recommended by tens of thousands of healthcare practitioners. The brand also operates its own manufacturing facility in South Carolina and holds NSF certification. Notably, approximately 60% of Thorne’s revenue now comes from consumers under 40, reflecting a shift towards younger, wellness-conscious buyers.

P&G will acquire Thorne from the private equity firm L Catterton’s Flagship Fund, which had taken the company private in 2023 for $680 million — marking this as a remarkable return on investment. Thorne is projected to generate $650 million in annual revenue in 2026. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026, pending regulatory approval.

“Consumer interest in self-care, prevention, wellness, and personalized health continues to grow,” said Paul Gama, CEO of P&G Health Care, adding that Thorne perfectly complements their existing portfolio, which includes Metamucil, Align Probiotic, and New Chapter vitamins.
