Hut 8 Corp. Shares Soar as AI Infrastructure Agreements with Anthropic Accelerate

Shares of Hut 8 Corp. (Nasdaq: HUT) experienced a nearly 4% surge in early trading on August 2, 2026. This surge was fueled by Wall Street’s renewed interest in the company’s audacious shift from Bitcoin mining to AI-focused data center infrastructure. This transformation is rooted in a significant partnership with AI titan Anthropic and compute provider Fluidstack.

According to the agreement, Hut 8 is committed to developing and delivering a minimum of 245 megawatts (MW) and potentially up to 2,295 MW of AI data center capacity for Anthropic. The project will commence at the company’s River Bend campus in Louisiana. The deal, structured as a 15-year, $7 billion lease supported by Google, provides Hut 8 with a steady, long-term revenue stream that analysts have dubbed “transformational.”

The partnership is divided into several tranches. The initial 245 MW tranche is set to launch at River Bend, bolstered by 330 MW of utility capacity. There are also options to scale up to over 1 GW at that site alone. Hut 8 is capitalizing on its existing high-voltage power assets and advanced cooling infrastructure, initially constructed for energy-intensive crypto mining, to cater to next-generation AI workloads at the gigawatt scale.

James Bradbury, Head of Compute at Anthropic, views the deal as a fresh opportunity to bring crucial AI capacity online by early 2027. With a projected annual revenue growth rate of 76.9% through 2028, Hut 8 is swiftly repositioning itself as one of the most enticing AI infrastructure opportunities in today’s market.
