Introducing Patriot Fox: A Tribute to Backcountry Heritage by Kitfox
Idaho’s renowned kit aircraft manufacturer, Kitfox Aircraft, has unveiled a patriotic new addition to their legendary lineup. The Patriot Fox, a limited special-edition aircraft, was revealed at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 on July 23. The unveiling drew significant crowds to the Homebuilt Aircraft Display area, where Kitfox has been a long-standing attraction.
The Patriot Fox is built upon the proven Kitfox Series 7 platform. This high-wing, taildragger design is beloved by backcountry and bush-flying enthusiasts worldwide. The special edition pays tribute to America’s aviation heritage and is designed to offer exceptional STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) performance. It also provides rugged backcountry capability and the builder customization options that have made Kitfox kits famous since 1984. To date, over 4,500 Kitfox kits have been delivered across 42 countries.
The debut of the Patriot Fox aligns with AirVenture 2026’s overarching theme of “Celebrating the Freedom of Flight”. This is a nod to both American aviation heritage and the nation’s 250th anniversary. Kitfox Aircraft, headquartered in Homedale, Idaho, remains one of the most active kit aircraft manufacturers in the experimental aviation community. The Patriot Fox is expected to generate strong interest among builders seeking a uniquely American flying machine.
