Google Unveils Trio of New Gemini AI Models, Preps for Gemini 4

Google DeepMind has unveiled three new artificial intelligence models — Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber. This marks one of the tech giant’s most significant AI releases of the year.

The flagship of the trio, Gemini 3.6 Flash, is hailed by Google as its “workhorse model.” It delivers enhanced performance in coding, knowledge work, and multimodal tasks. Impressively, it achieves this while consuming 17% fewer output tokens than its predecessor, Gemini 3.5 Flash. This efficiency gain directly translates to lower costs for developers, with output pricing dropping from $9.00 to $7.50 per million tokens.

Next in the lineup, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite is touted as the fastest and most cost-effective model. Priced at just $0.30 per million input tokens, it delivers 350 output tokens per second. This model is optimized for high-throughput tasks like agentic search and document processing.

On the other hand, Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is a security-tuned variant. It’s designed to identify and rectify cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Currently, it’s available exclusively to governments and trusted enterprise partners.

Notably absent from the release was the highly anticipated Gemini 3.5 Pro. Google confirmed that its release is still delayed due to unmet internal quality benchmarks. However, there’s a silver lining for AI enthusiasts. Google revealed that it has already initiated pre-training for Gemini 4, its most ambitious training run to date. Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash-Lite are now rolling out globally to enterprise customers and Gemini app users.
