Royal Caribbean Partners with Roald Dahl’s Charity for European Debut of Legend of the Seas
Royal Caribbean recently announced a heartwarming multi-year partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. This partnership is timed perfectly with the eagerly awaited European debut of their newest Icon-class ship, the Legend of the Seas. The collaboration was launched ahead of National Children’s Nurses Day on June 30, 2026, and ties directly to the ship’s headline onboard entertainment: a full Broadway-style production of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
During the Legend‘s inaugural European season, guests will have the opportunity to support the charity through onboard donation opportunities and fundraising activities. The charity’s network includes more than 250 specialist Roald Dahl Nurses across NHS Trusts in the UK. These professionals provide care for over 50,000 seriously ill children and their families living with complex, lifelong conditions.
To celebrate the launch, Royal Caribbean hosted a group of Roald Dahl Nurses on a special complimentary four-night preview sailing aboard the Legend of the Seas. This event took place ahead of the ship’s official debut on July 4. “As a brand focused on creating memorable holidays for families, it’s especially meaningful to partner with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity,” said Gerard Nolan, VP & MD, EMEA, at Royal Caribbean.
The Legend of the Seas boasts eight distinct onboard neighborhoods and more than 40 dining and entertainment venues. It offers experiences tailored to multi-generational travelers. After its European summer season, the ship will reposition to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in November 2026. From there, it will embark on 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries. These include calls at Royal Caribbean’s top-rated private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
