The AI Revolution: Creating Billionaires at a Rapid Pace
The artificial intelligence revolution is not just reshaping industries — it is minting fortunes at a breathtaking pace. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the relentless AI boom has created 19 new billionaires over the past year, with a combined net worth of $59.3 billion. These newest members of the three-comma club join 41 AI billionaires already identified last year, bringing the total to 60 AI billionaires in roughly 24 months.
Unlike the first wave of AI wealth — concentrated in chips, data centers, and large language models — this new class of billionaires made their fortunes by applying AI to traditional industries such as law, healthcare, customer service, and software development. The most high-profile entry came from AI chipmaker Cerebras Systems, whose Nasdaq debut was the year’s largest IPO, raising $5.55 billion. Cerebras co-founder and CEO Andrew Feldman‘s stake is now worth $3.2 billion.
Separately, Forbes’ 2026 rankings identified as many as 86 AI-related billionaires globally, with a staggering combined wealth of $2.9 trillion — more than the GDP of the United Kingdom. The AI wealth wave is showing no signs of slowing, with Anthropic and OpenAI both eyeing IPOs later in 2026, events that analysts say could dramatically expand the billionaire count even further.
