Travel + Leisure’s 2026 World’s Best Awards: Koh Samui & Patina Osaka Take the Lead
Travel + Leisure has recently announced the winners of its much-awaited 2026 World’s Best Awards. The awards highlight the world’s top destinations, hotels, airlines, and cruise lines, as voted by over 207,000 readers. This year’s results present a vibrant mix of exciting newcomers and cherished perennial favorites across all categories.
Koh Samui, Thailand, has won the prestigious title of Best Island in the World for the first time. In contrast, Patina Osaka, Japan has been crowned the Best Hotel in the World. In terms of cities, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico has maintained its position as the Best City in the World, while Santa Fe, New Mexico leads the list of U.S. cities. In the aviation sector, EVA Air has climbed to the top spot among international airlines. Meanwhile, Capella Hotels & Resorts has been recognized as the Best Hotel Brand in the World.
“The winners reflect travelers’ interest in destinations that feel distinctive, memorable, and deeply rooted in place,” stated Jacqui Gifford, Editor in Chief of Travel + Leisure. Travel + Leisure will also host its third annual World’s Best Summit in New York City on July 14–15, followed by the inaugural World’s Best Summit London in October.
