Garmin Unveils AXIS™: A Groundbreaking All-in-One Avionics Display

Garmin has recently launched its most innovative avionics product in years — the AXIS™ flight display system. Announced on July 8, 2026, AXIS is a unique solution designed from scratch. It seamlessly integrates a primary flight display (PFD), multi-function display (MFD), IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel capability into a single touchscreen unit. This revolutionary system significantly simplifies cockpit upgrades for general aviation pilots.

The AXIS system is compatible with a wide range of aircraft, including certified piston-powered single and twin-engine aircraft, experimental builds, and Light Sport Aircraft under the FAA’s new MOSAIC framework. The flagship 11.6-inch AXIS display has already received FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval and is available this month. An 8-inch version is expected to hit the market in early 2027.

The pricing of the AXIS system varies based on the configuration. It starts from $8,000 for a basic experimental VFR setup and goes up to $51,800 for a dual 11.6-inch display configuration with dual IFR GPS and NAV/COMM capability. The AXIS system also boasts advanced safety tools such as a dedicated emergency button, Smart Glide engine-failure assistance, 3D SafeTaxi, Runway Occupancy Awareness, and full Synthetic Vision Technology. According to Garmin, most G3X Touch upgrades can be completed in about a day, using existing panel cutouts and mounting points.

In related news, CubCrafters announced on July 9, 2026, that the AXIS system will be available across its entire aircraft lineup. This includes the Carbon Cub UL, XCub, and NX Cub, for both new orders and retrofit installations.
