Samsung Unveils a Sneak Peek of the ‘Wide-Fold’ Galaxy Z8 Featuring a Bold New Design
Samsung Electronics began July 1st with a series of intriguing teaser videos on its global social media platforms, virtually confirming the debut of a revolutionary foldable design ahead of the eagerly awaited Galaxy Unpacked event, set to take place on July 22, 2026, in London.
The teaser campaign, adorned with catchy phrases such as “Cut to what matters,” “Sweet new shape,” and “Bold stroke. New shape,” showcases everyday items — from pizza slices to chocolate bars — morphing into wider, shorter shapes. This cleverly hints at the upcoming Galaxy Z Wide-Fold, a novel passport-shaped foldable that deviates from the tall, narrow design of its predecessors. The wider horizontal form factor is expected to boast a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display and a 5.5-inch cover display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, enhancing the experience of video viewing, gaming, and multitasking.
Speculations suggest that Samsung is set to unveil three new foldables this year — the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide), the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 — marking it as the most extensive foldable lineup Samsung has ever launched at a single event. This development comes as Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its own foldable iPhone, thereby intensifying the competition in the premium smartphone market.
