EVA Air’s Groundbreaking Achievement: Inaugural Nonstop Flight from Taipei to Washington D.C. Takes to the Skies

Today, June 26, 2026, marks a significant milestone in transpacific aviation. EVA Air, Taiwan’s premier independent airline, commences its first-ever nonstop service between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). This historic event bridges a long-standing connectivity gap for numerous travelers who previously had to transit through West Coast hubs such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle.

The route operates four times weekly on the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft boasts a three-class cabin configuration: the luxurious Royal Laurel business class with lie-flat seats, a new fourth-generation Premium Economy — hailed as having the industry’s largest seat pitch — and the standard Economy. EVA Air President Clay Sun labeled Washington D.C. as “one of the nation’s most influential markets, home to the political heart of the U.S.”

With this new route, EVA Air extends its North American network to 10 gateways, escalating to 98 weekly flights to the continent. This solidifies its status as the carrier offering the most destinations from Taiwan to North America. The new service is anticipated to generate over $61 million in annual economic impact for the Washington D.C. region. As a Star Alliance member, EVA Air’s Dulles flights will also seamlessly integrate with United Airlines’ comprehensive domestic and international network.
