Google’s Flagship AI Model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, Enters Final Launch Window with 2M-Token Context
Google’s most powerful AI model of the year, Gemini 3.5 Pro, is now inside its expected general availability window. Analyst tracking places the public launch between June 23 and June 30, 2026. The flagship model was unveiled at Google I/O on May 19. CEO Sundar Pichai told the audience to “give us until next month” — a line that drew audible groans from developers hoping for an immediate release.
As of today, Gemini 3.5 Pro remains in limited preview on Vertex AI for select enterprise customers. It has not yet shipped to the public Gemini app or Google AI Studio. However, the confirmed specifications are eye-catching:
- A 2-million-token context window — the largest of any production frontier model announced to date and double that of Gemini 3.5 Flash
- A “Deep Think” advanced reasoning mode
- Full multimodal support across text and images
Estimated pricing sits at approximately $15 per million input tokens and $60 per million output tokens. This is roughly 10x the cost of the already-released Gemini 3.5 Flash. The Deep Think reasoning mode is expected to be gated behind Google’s premium $250/month AI Ultra subscription tier.
The stakes are high for Google. A miss past June 30 would mark the second consecutive I/O commitment the company failed to deliver on schedule. This comes as competition from Anthropic’s Claude Opus and OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 intensifies.
