Hut 8 Soars as High-Profile AI Partnerships with Anthropic & Fluidstack Take Off

Shares of Hut 8 Corp. (Nasdaq/TSX: HUT) experienced a significant surge this week. This positive response from investors is largely due to the company’s prominent partnerships in the artificial intelligence infrastructure sector. This strategic shift is rapidly transforming the former Bitcoin miner into a key player in the U.S. AI data center boom.

The driving force behind this momentum is Hut 8’s groundbreaking partnership with AI titan, Anthropic, and compute infrastructure provider, Fluidstack. As part of this alliance, Hut 8 is set to develop and deliver at least 245 megawatts (MW) and up to 2,295 MW of AI data center capacity across multiple sites.

The initial phase will be launched at Hut 8’s River Bend campus in Louisiana. This 245 MW facility, backed by a 15-year lease agreement, has a potential worth of up to $17.7 billion. Construction is slated to commence in 2026, with the expectation of the first data hall going live by Q2 2027.

The deal is structured across three tranches, including a Right of First Offer for up to 1,000 MW of additional capacity at River Bend. Additionally, there is an option for Hut 8 and Anthropic to jointly develop up to 1,050 MW of further capacity beyond the Louisiana site.

Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot described the venture as an “integrated platform capable of delivering at gigawatt scale,” while Anthropic’s Head of Compute James Bradbury called it “a new opportunity to bring additional capacity online by early 2027.”

The AI data center market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 31.6%. This makes Hut 8’s repositioning one of the most compelling infrastructure plays of 2026.
