Fourth Front Aviation Broadens Horizons with Colorado Springs Acquisition

California’s leading general aviation maintenance provider, Fourth Front Aviation, has recently announced the acquisition of D&J Aviation. This FAA Part 145-certified repair station and avionics integrator, situated at Colorado Springs Airport (KCOS), signifies a notable expansion of the company into the Rocky Mountain region.

The facility, now operating under the new brand Fourth Front Aviation Colorado, brings Garmin, Avidyne, and Aspen avionics dealerships into the network. In addition, it offers decades of expertise in special mission systems integration. The Colorado Springs location will provide a range of services including:

  • Piston, turboprop, and light jet maintenance
  • Advanced sensor and communications integration
  • Support for wildfire air attack and government agency operations

Importantly, all existing D&J Aviation leadership and mechanics will remain in place, ensuring continuity for the shop’s loyal customer base. D&J was built over several decades by founder Jim Schwab, whose legacy of specialized avionics and sensor integration work forms the backbone of the acquired operation.

“Our customers increasingly seek a maintenance partner capable of supporting aircraft across multiple locations while maintaining consistent standards and technical expertise,” said Tom Schaefer, co-founder of Fourth Front Aviation. The Colorado Springs acquisition joins Fourth Front’s flagship location at Santa Monica Airport (KSMO) in California, forming a growing national aviation services platform.
