Waymo Introduces ‘Premier’ Robotaxi Subscription at $29.99/Month
Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle unit, Waymo, has unveiled its inaugural loyalty subscription program, dubbed Waymo Premier. This premium service tier, priced at $29.99 per month, is available to its most frequent riders. The invite-only program was launched on June 11, 2026, in three of the company’s high-demand markets: San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
Subscribers to Waymo Premier enjoy a range of exclusive benefits, such as:
- Priority vehicle matching for expedited pickups
- 10% Waymo Cash back on every trip, with increased returns during peak hours
- Up to five free cancellations per month
- Early access to Waymo’s service in new cities, ahead of the general waitlist
This launch signifies the first time an autonomous vehicle operator has introduced a premium membership model, indicating a strategic shift towards recurring revenue.
Waymo’s move comes amidst increasing financial pressure on its parent company, Alphabet. The “Other Bets” division of Alphabet, which includes Waymo, reported a Q1 2026 operating loss of $2.1 billion, nearly twice that of the previous year. Following a $16 billion funding round in February, Waymo, valued at $126 billion, aims to achieve 1 million weekly rides and expand into over 20 cities. However, the Premier program is currently unavailable in Austin or Atlanta, where Waymo operates exclusively via the Uber app.
